Pop Art!

We have been learning about Pop Art! Pop Art is a fun art movement that became popular in the 1960s. Pop Art is usually very bright and colourful, and it often uses images and icons that are popular in the modern world. We looked at Roy Lichtenstein’s Pop Art based on comic strips, especially examples of onomatopoeia such as ‘Pop!’ ‘Bang!’ and ‘Wham!’ We decided to use our names instead.

First, we cut a big cloud or star shape out of coloured paper, and then we glued a smaller, newspaper shape on top. Then we drew the letters of our name in bubble writing. We had to make sure they weren’t too skinny or they were too hard to cut out! Finally, we decorated the rest of our work with colourful shapes and patterns. We hope you like our Pop Art!

Creating Maps and Writing Directions

In Maths we have been learning how to create maps and write directions. For Friday Maths, we had our own treasure hunt, where we wrote directions for our classmates to find the 'treasure' we had hidden in the school! Check out some of the maps we created below, based on the picture book Peter and the Wolf.
